The Graphics Editor
As an integral part of the CMXä
family of Builder utilities, the Graphics Editor features;
Hardware Independent Graphics Support - CMXä
’s Virtual Device Interface (VDI) console supports
different graphic resolutions and modes, making it possible for the
same graphics screen to be developed and displayed on a variety of
graphics display consoles.
The Flexibility of On-line Development - A
Multi-tasking operating environment makes it possible to design and
test new displays while CMXä
is still running. The transition from development to
production is seamless. And because the complete Tag and Unit
database parameter list is accessible from the Graphics Editor,
database references and conditional logical elements can be modified
on-the-fly.
Drawing Tools for Creating Vector-Based Graphics
include:
- A user-friendly mouse and menu-driven development environment,
- A CAD-style grid with snap and foreground/background
capability
- An assortment of drawing and character formatting tools
- An array of attributes, colors, styles, and fill patterns
- Full object scaling and object rotation
- Independent or group object editing, copying, and moving
- Full assisted database access for quickly creating dynamic
elements
- On-line context-sensitive help screens

Symbols Library with Standard Objects Provided - A
standard ISA-type symbol library stocked with objects such as
motors, pumps, and valves is included. As static graphics, these
objects may be used “as is” or can be customized by changing
attributes. User-created graphics can be saved as symbols making
them part of the standard symbol library table. A second sub-picture
library is made up of similar symbols with dynamic graphic features
added. These symbols are designed to change visibly based on the
feedback they get from a Tag. They can also be used “as is” or
can be customized and saved.
GLIP “Include File” Support for Custom Logic -
Any Graphic Builder display can be further customized to perform
additional logic, calculations, report generation, file transfer or
user interface functions by including Graphics Language Interface
Processor (GLIP) language files as part of the custom graphic
display.
On-line Help - Full context-sensitive on-line help
is provided. Graphic Builder also assists with easy to understand
prompts and user dialogs to guide the user through unfamiliar
procedures and greatly speeds up learning time.
