The Operator Interface - HMI
The CMXä
Operator Interface System can have up to sixteen
multigraphic high-performance user consoles in VGA, SVGA, or HVGA
display mode. Legacy terminals such as VT100 or PC CGA are also
supported.
CMXä ’s
versatile operator interface provides standard and configurable
displays throughout the System and also gives system developers the
options and tools they need to design custom graphic and user
display.

Standard Displays
CMX’s use of standard and configurable displays
completely eliminates the necessity of having to design and build
user displays, thereby greatly reducing development time and its
associated costs. The standard interface structure maintains a
functional commonality between screens across the System, meaning
that an Operator only needs to learn one set of operating
procedures. Context-sensitive on-line help screens also greatly
simplify learning. Other standard displays include:
- Login Display for security access
- Main Menu Display for report and display access
- Tag Display for individual Tag information and sub-displays
- Alltags Display and Tags Display for directory information
- Unit Display and Unit Sub-display for Unit status and control
- Alarm Display for user
configured System abnormality
- Messages Display for Unit and System information
- Config Display for System status and diagnostic information
- Tune Display for trending loop parameter while changing tuning
constants
- Tabular Continuous History Display
- Graphical Continuous History Display
CMXä further
simplifies system development by providing a set of configuration
tools that the user can easily access from within the display
interface while CMXä
is operating. These include:
- Menu Builder for configuring user-specific login menus
- Menus for configuring user-specific operating display menus
- Profiles for configuring displays that group up to twenty-four
Tags at once
- Plots for configuring realtime line graphs for trending
- Alias to create keyboard “macros”
- Report to configure on-line reports from the Unit or
Continuous History
- First Out Annunciator for displaying custom alarm screens
- Custom Help Displays
- SPC Chart Display for optimizing process variables
On-line Help
Context sensitive help is available from every
standard display in the System. User help screens can be easily
added.
The online display Editors for Menus, Profiles,
Plots, Aliases, and Reports provide a field for entering the name a
help display. Help displays can be created and formatted using a set
of “dot” formatting commands and any standard ASCII text editor.

As a function of its Security System, the user is
required to furnish a user name whenever the System is started. The
user name tells the System the individual’s access level. This
controls which CMXä functions
the user can and cannot utilize. Up to 100 levels can be
categorized, from look-only, to Operator, Application Engineer, and
System Developer, to keep unauthorized personnel from critical
system parameters and regulate their access to CMXä
operations.

First Out Annunciator
First Out Annunciator part of the CMXä
System.
SPC Chart Builder
The SPC Chart Builder was developed to enable
Engineers to use Statistical Process Control (SPC) charting with the
CMXä Display
Program.
SPC Chart Builder supports SPC X-bar charting by
furnishing a manual data entry form and a separate display for
defining charting parameters.
Data can be presented as a graphical chart or in a
tabular format.
